BARANDUDA PS GRADES P-1

The P-1 students from Baranduda PS were enthusiastic collectors, observers and listeners as they worked to identify the birds and the bugs from Bagnall's Range Lagoon at Wonga Wetlands.

Elissa and John sampled the macroinvertebrates (bugs!) for the students who then sorted through the sample to identify the many species that were found. Bloodworms, damselfly larvae and shrimp were present along with mayflies and water mites.

Mike introduced some of the many birds found at Wonga Wetlands and explained how their beaks, feet, legs and behaviour help to identify what they eat and how they catch them. Then it was off for a long walk with the binoculars to see some of the residents of Wonga Wetlands. The sea eagles, egrets, ibis and spoonbills all showed up and Mr and Mrs Swan and their cygnets were in the “right place at the right time”. A pleasant day was had by all !!!!
