Collecting the bugs

The Aquatic Environment Education Centre at Wonga Wetlands was pleased to welcome the students and staff from Carraragarmungee PS on Friday. The students worked in three groups according to their Grade level.

The groups took turns to examine the leaves and branches of River Red Gums and Wattles to see what lives in, on and around the leaves and bark, collected and identified the bugs in Bagnall's Range Lagoon and walked out to the Wonga Wetlands Lagoons to record the bird life.

The weather was terrific and, being spring, the animals are just coming out in numbers. As well as the “usual” birds and bugs, we managed to see the baby possum, an unusual gecko and a flock of birds which we could not immediately identify so we will have to do some research about them !! A great day was had by all !!!

What bug is that ?
Happy Campers!
