THE SCOTS SCHOOL GRADE TWOS AT WONGA
Ready to start!
After an introduction in the classroom, it was out to Lagoon 1 with Mike (armed with binoculars and clipboards!) to observe and identify some of the many bird species at Wonga Wetlands. Even though it was a dull day weatherwise, there were many birds out and about and some very good observational skills were shown by the students.

The "Bug Hunter"

After a short break the groups collected their sampling equipment and collected dryland bugs from the River Red Gums and a selection of leaves from dryland and aquatic plants. These were examined under the microscope and drawings made to show the similarities and differences.

Around the campfire

Liz Heta took over after lunch and introduced the group to some of the artefacts and cultural activities of the Wiradjuri people followed by a wander through the Wiradjuri Campsite. A very pleasant day was enjoyed by all even though the flies seemed determined to spoil things!
