For their first school excursion, the Preps and their teachers and parents, had a great day investigating the birds, bugs, lagoons and billabongs at Wonga Wetlands.

They learned that just how “good” the water in a billabong is, can be worked out from the macroinvertebrates (bugs!) that are found living in it. This means catching the bugs, sorting them out and then identifying them.

The things that the many birds at Wonga Wetlands eat can be discovered by looking very closely at their beaks, feet and legs but to be sure that you are right it is best to observe their BEHAVIOUR out on the lagoons and billabongs.
