The day was divided into three parts with students rotating through each activity. There was a session with Simon Williams, Wonga’s resident artist which involved an explanation of the symbols used in aboriginal painting and then a “hands-on “ with each student producing their own art work.

Community Aboriginal Education Officer, Kev Ebsworth, walked the students through The Wiradjuri Cultural and Education Centre explaining the features of the camp and camp life along with some of the common implements used in the camp. A quick walk to the “Canoe Tree” followed for some students.

Liz Heta, AlburyCity’s Aboriginal Liaison Officer introduced the students to some of the features of the local aboriginal group, the Wiradjuri, in terms of their family relationships, the everyday implements they used and some of their stories.
Regardless of the intermittent rain, everyone had an enjoyable and informative day!
