Wonga Wetlands

Phragmites

Growing up to 4m above the water's surface, this perennial reed is supported by strong subterranean stems (rhizomes).

An important part of the wetlands, the Common Reed provides hiding, feeding and nesting places for animals. It can also provide useful grazing for stock.

May be confused with Pampas Grass.
