Caddis Fly

An example of complete metamorphosis, the Caddis Fly has distinct larval and adult forms. They can be carnivorous, herbivorous or omnivorous.

The larvae are aquatic, living in still or running water. They look like 'moving sticks', building protective cases out of materials in their environment.

The adults are terrestrial, generally nocturnal and look moth-like. They have two pairs of wings, and mouthparts that only allow them to eat liquid food.
