The Murray-Darling Freshwater Research Centre has been an Albury/Wodonga
institution for over 20 years.
Originally developed as an adjunct to the Albury Wodonga Development
Corporation it now operates in its own right as the Basin's premier
freshwater research facility.
The main laboratory is situated at La Trobe University in Albury/Wodonga, and there is a satellite
laboratory at Mildura.
The MDFRC will be looking for continued opportunities to formulate and carry out Research Projects on the wetlands and the surrounding floodplain, either alone or in cooperation with other research bodies.
The MDFRC, La Trobe University, Charles Sturt University, Norske Skog, Rotary Club of Albury and the Aquatic Environment Education Centre at Wonga Wetlands combine their facilities, resources and staff to present the annual Rotary Murray-Darling School of Freshwater Research for Year 11 students in April each year.
